Baltic Birch Dining Table That Seats Six. Art Meets Furniture.

This solid wood dining table will stop everyone in their tracks. Thin stripes of birch make it a work of functional art. It comfortably seats 6 (our 48” bench is a great seating option!), is water and heat resistant, and is easy to maintain. Though we call it a dining table, this mid-century modern inspired piece can work great as a conference table or office desk as well. Easy assembly of the legs and stretcher add to the delight of this piece.

  • What first appears to be grain lines is revealed as approximately 700 individual pieces of birch running the length of the table and spanning the entire width. The 45 degree bevel on the table top and legs makes the piece, though sturdy and hefty, look and feel light as a feather and paper thin. But don’t worry - we’ve jumped, shimmied, and danced on the table to ensure that it’s strong enough for even the wildest homes.

The table is made by laminating many sheets of Baltic birch together, which creates the gorgeous stripes running the distance. Each piece is one of a kind, as the knots, color variations, and strips of birch are all unique.

The tabletop is water and heat resistant, easy to maintain, and easy to repair, thanks to the Rubio® products we’ve used to finish it with.

Perfect in your dining room, a conference room, or even an office, this table is easily assembled (but can be picked up locally in its fully assembled form).

Handcrafted in Minneapolis. Made to Order.

  • 72”L x 34”W x 30”H, 160 lbs.
    Material is 1 ¾” thick

28 ¼” vertical space for legs

Seats 6 - all chair seats will easily nest under the tabletop

  • (01) Veneered Baltic Birch

Our furniture is made using a beautiful high-end Baltic birch plywood from Columbia Forest Products®. Most pieces consists of the 13 layers of the ply are solid birch, along with a veneer in either walnut or maple, though this product doesn’t reveal the veneer at all. The Baltic birch is a sustainable product and will be very stable as the seasons change, unlike some solid wood furniture.

We have made it our signature look to highlight the striped layers. Not only does this give a nod to the designers of the mid-century era, it makes every piece by Hossle Woodworks a work of art, and a unique, one-of-a-kind, creation.

    (02) Finish

This product is finished with a marine-grade epoxy, followed by Rubio® Monocoat, a hardwax oil that is 0% VOC, sustainable, and contains no water or solvents. It has great wear and is water and heat resistant. The product is safe to use on food surfaces, complies with food contact regulations and is free of harmful substances for indoor use (Eurofins).

Another benefit to the finish is that it allows for easy repair and refresh, using Rubio ® Monocoat Maintenance Oil and Rubio ® Monocoat Soap

  • (01) How do I care for this product?

In general, use placemats, wipe up spills, and don’t put sharp or rough objects on the furniture. A damp cloth is all you need to clean it (definitely no harsh chemicals), and additionally, you can purchase Rubio ® Moncooat Maintenance Oil to give it a refresh and Rubio ® Monocoat Soap for general cleaning.

    (02) Does this require assembly?

If you’re picking up the product from our studio or a showroom, you have the option of having it assembled before arrival. If it’s being shipped, or if you prefer to have it as compact as possible, light assembly is required and is quick and easy. All you need is a hex/allen wrench.

Stand the legs facing each other and insert the stretcher into the center slot in the legs. Use one bolt per leg to secure the stretcher. With the tabletop upside down (requires two people), place the legs and stretcher onto the underside, so that the stretcher lines up with the holes. Secure the stretcher with 4 bolts. Finally, line up the four leg plates and secure each with 4 bolts. Flip the table over and enjoy your new functional work of art! Detailed Instructions can be found here.

  • Baltic birch europly (a plywood product) is a high quality, all hard-wood engineered material that is sustainable, stable, and artful in design. The product we use has 13 layers of thinly sliced birch between two layers of veneer. That’s 15 total layers of wood in ¾” thickness!

In some of our products, such as this one, we glue and stack the plywood together, which multiplies the layered effect. Then, we cut it vertically in narrow strips and turn the stack on their side, essentially creating our own specialty sheet of material, where all you see is individual layers of birch, and none the top or bottom veneers. We call this “Edge Grain Baltic Birch”, although it’s not technically an edge grain at all. It’s layer after layer of solid wood, and we love this look, using it to maximum effect.

It’s inspired by mid-century style, but is modern, minimalist, and a work of art.
